THE ARTIST 

Margie is a San Diego-based artist that writes, performs, and produces her own music. 

After creating around twenty cover videos to YouTube, she transitioned to creating her own music. Towards the end of 2020 she released her first original song to streaming titled Emma Stone. That first song is similar to a short story about a day in the life of the artist, shedding light for the listener on what she does during a normal day. Her second track, Alone, also came out towards the end of 2020, and is an upbeat track with lyrics that reveal the darker aspects to Margie’s life. Alone is a track that hits close to home for many, especially during the pandemic, where a lot of individuals were feeling the effects of depression. The third track Margie released is titled Unexplainable Mind, an all around slower track that encapsulates the utter feeling of drowning in your thoughts. This song showcases a blend of Margie’s favored musical artists, Amy Winehouse, Norah Jones and Lana Del Ray. 

 

Margie's genre of choice is very different from the average musician, in the way that she does not fall under just one category. Funk, soul, baroque- pop are three genres that when merged alongside each other, generate her  preferred style.  A mesh of jazz and soul that is Amy Winehouse, Norah Jones’ jumble of pop and folk, and Lana Del Ray’s indie rock, all heavily inspired this particular musical artist.
